Industrial Electric is IMDS registered
Industrial Electric Wire & Cable (IEWC) is registered with the IMDS. The International Material Data System (IMDS) is a global data collection system. It was originally designed to organize product data in the automotive market and provides end users with valuable environmental information about their finished product.
IMDS is not like the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) that are available to IEWC suppliers about the safety of the raw materials they use internally to make our wire products. Our finished wire products are classified as “Articles” by OSHA and are not subject to the MSDS requirement for (raw) “Materials”. The IMDS is developed for each product by our IMDS-registered suppliers. This IMDS contains a data tree for each product that lists all substances that are contained in the finished wire product. The substances are all assigned a Chemical Abstract System (CAS) number. These CAS numbers are included in the tree.
Our customers finished product may contain several hundred IMDS’s. The IMDS system creates a sum total of the substance contents by CAS number for their finished product. This report tells the customer if their end product is in compliance with certain environmental regulations or standards. It also helps waste facilities in the proper disposition of the finished product at the end of the products life cycle.
If our supplier is registered with this system, IEWC can forward the IMDS data to any Customer that is registered with the IMDS.
Please contact your Sales Representative with your IMDS requirements. The IEWC Quality Assurance Department will determine if your IMDS requirement can be satisfied through the International Material Data System.
