What are DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs?
Distribution Network Operator (DNO)
Licensed Company that owns and operates the electricity distribution network in a specific geographical area.
Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO)
A company that owns, operates & maintains electricity infrastructure. IDNOs are similar to DNOs in that they are both regulated by Ofgem and earn revenue through distribution use of system charges.
Independent Connection Provider (ICP)
A certified company that builds and manages electrical infrastructure & connections to the electricity grid.
