Portable Cord

Portable Cord, otherwise known as flexible cord, extension cord or portable cordage, is a type of multi-conductor cable used for temporary electrical connections.

Many portable cord applications call for cables that are highly flexible, such as moving equipment like power tools or appliances. Other uses require cables that are able to withstand harsh environmental conditions like the presence of water, oil or extreme temperatures. These different applications are identified through letter-code designations used by UL and CSA.

IEWC follows US color coding for the inner conductors, but our Customs Solutions team can help you to find a solution should you have unique requirements. Visit our Portable Cord guide for more information or contact your IEWC Sales rep if you don’t locate your desired configuration in our catalog.
